Want to include a custom logo, graphic or sponsorship on your basketball jersey? Supplying a Vector file is essential in helping us nail a perfect outcome for your order!

A Vector file is a type of computer graphic based on mathematical expressions rather than pixels. Unlike raster images which are composed of a grid on individual pixels, Vector files use mathematical equations to define shapes, lines and colour. This allows Vector graphics to be scaled to any size without losing quality.

When it comes to sublimation printing, Vector files are preferred for three main reasons:

1. Scalability without loss of quality: Vector files are resolution-independent, meaning they can be scaled to any size without losing quality. Vector graphics ensure that the image remains clear and crisp regardless of the size of final print.

2. Editable components: Vector files are easily editable, allowing our designer to make adjustments to the design elements, colours and shapes as needed. This flexibility is valuable within the sublimation process, where customisation is often required to suit client requests and preferences.

3. Colour consistency: Vector files contain information about the colours used in the design, generally in the form of Pantone or CMYK values. This ensures consistent colour reproduction during the sublimation process, helping maintain cohesion of desired look.

Common Vector file formats include:

  • .AI (Adobe Illustrator)
  • .EPS (Encapsulated PostScript)
  • .SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
  • .PDF (Portable Document Format)

Other important points:

  • Vector files are created in graphic programs such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel. They cannot be created in basic programs such as Word, Excel or Paint.
  • Free online apps claiming to convert any artwork to Vector files generally do not work.
  • Have a designer or skilled yourself? Please ensure any fonts in your artwork are converted to outlines.

Need your file redrawn to Vector format? We’ll quickly do this for you at a small surcharge, and you’ll receive the file for any future needs moving forward.

In summary, using Vector files in sublimation printing ensures the final output is of high quality, helping us deliver a superior garment to you from design and print to fabric.
